New optical grade resin for imprint unveiled by Panacol

Panacol will unveil new optical grade resin for imprint and optical bonding applications at the SPIE photonics west exhibition in San Franciso, USA, from the 28th to the 30th of January 2025. Applications include smart device sensors, wearables, and to create structured light in projectors and time-of-flight sensing applications for both automotive and consumer products.

Panacol’s resin can imprint replication of refractive lenses and diffractive optical elements (DOEs). Highly suitable for both micro and nanoimprint lithography or wafer level optics, they also have outstanding adhesion to trending new polymer substrates such as PET, PC, or COP.

The adhesives quickly cure under UV light, creating a precise and durable structure. The properties of the optical are specifically tailored to the requirements of the target substrate.

Vitralit UC 1633 is the companies latest generation of optical materials and features improved yellowing resistance, higher optical transmission, and superior shape retention. It can also be easily demoulded from PDMS, making it well suited to form microlenses in applications such as smart watches.

A black UV-curable material for shading and masking properties is available for unique optical applications and assemblies. ‘Black&Light’ adhesives sich as vitralit BL UC 1103 can be cured using only light into thicker layers. This creates an optical density of up to six, which is highly blocking.

A wide range of UV curable adhesives for bonding and alignment are available from Panacol. For curing in shadow zones, dual cure adhesives are available with a secondary moisture of heat curing step.

High intensity LED curing systems from Honle are used to cure these optical materials and adhesives for optical bonding. Honle’s LED’s perfectly match the wavelengths of the Panacol photoinitiations. After curing, the optical grade adhesives are flexible whilst being tension equalizing. This reduces overall stress on dissimilar substrates.

Panacol will be present at the SPIE photonics west exhibition in the Moscone Centre in San Francisco, USA from January 28th to the 30th 2025.
