The tech partnership will advance digital transformation across the waste and resource sector
International circular economy specialist, Reconomy, has formed a strategic partnership with VWS Software Solutions, creators of the industry-leading PurGo waste management enterprise resource planning platform (ERP)
Waste management is more important than ever following the failure to reach an agreement in finalising a treaty to end plastic pollution in August 2025, in which Diane Crowe, group sustainability director at Reconomy, dubbed a 'missed opportunity', Crowe said, "The world is extracting and consuming virgin resources faster than the world can regenerate them with too few plastics being circulated back into the economy."
The partnership sets out to accelerate digitisation and discover new efficiencies. Through the integration of PurGo's comprehensive ERP capabilities with Reconomy's service architecture, digitalXchange, the collaboration will provide improved data accuracy, smoother service execution, detailed performance analytics and real-time insights for customers across the UK.
Ben Erwood, technology and engineering director at Reconomy, said, “We are delighted to welcome VWS Software Solutions into our technology partner ecosystem. As a trusted technology enabler that has built proprietary capability to help global brands report on and manage their legislative requirements and optimise their resources, it is critical that we continue to invest in our technology stack. This latest partnership will help us maintain our competitive advantage.”
Warren Bird, operations director for outsourcing at Reconomy, said, “This partnership will unlock new opportunities for our supplier network by streamlining collaboration and automating key workflows by reducing manual processes and improving data transparency. Together, we’ll drive mutual efficiencies and accelerate progress toward shared sustainability goals – helping our customers close circularity gaps while minimising environmental impact. This initiative also strengthens our commitment to building the most intelligent, agile, and supplier-enabled resource management model in the industry.”
Andy Mirecki, managing director and co-founder at VWS Software Solutions, said, “Reconomy’s bold approach to digital innovation complements our vision of enabling the waste and recycling sector to operate with greater intelligence, efficiency and sustainability. We look forward to working with them.”
