SAR Gruppen and TWMA have entered into a contract to strengthen drilling waste services for operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf
TWMA will install its RotoMill technology at SAR Gruppen’s Risavika facility to increase local treatment capacity and support a more efficient, integrated service for customers operating offshore.
Once operational, the RotoMill unit is expected to increase processing capacity at the facility by up to 50%, providing SAR Gruppen with more flexibility to manage drilling waste volumes from offshore operations. The installation will be integrated into the company’s existing treatment infrastructure and is set to become operational later this month.
The agreement will also provide support for an integrated drill cuttings handling service. Combining both companies’ portfolios will provide a solution to transport drill cuttings from offshore rigs to the Risavika facility, where they can be transferred into the treatment process without intermediate lifting operations.
Removing these additional handling stages can help to reduce vessel turnaround times, improve operational efficiency, and simplify the movement of drilling waste from offshore operations through to treatment.

The investment comes as activity across the Norwegian Continental Shelf remains high. The Norwegian Offshore Directorate expects around 40 exploration wells to be drilled in 2026, while Statistics Norway estimates oil and gas investment will reach NOK 266 billion during the year. With this in mind, the collaboration will help reinforce waste treatment infrastructure and provide operators greater access to flexible, efficient and reliable capacity.
