Edge process management platform will be revealed by Watlow
Thermal systems company Watlow will preview its edge process management (EPM) platform at SPS 2024 in Nuremberg, Germany, to help develop the ‘factory of the future’ using automation and data-driven decision-making. It will also include cybersecurity features to increase reliability.
Manufacturers can capture and analyse real-time data on location using the eurotherm EPM. The EPM uses advanced analytics along with machine learning to streamline processes for users and reduce energy consumption, improving quality and granting a high level of data security.

Eurotherms advanced data management capabilities will allow manufacturers to capture, analyse, and secure data at the application edge. Integration with existing systems and equipment is possible, along with compliance of industry standards. It is suitable for industries needing precision and regulatory compliance.

The EPM has high-precision data capture in line with SAE AMS2750 and CQI-9 compliance and having a cold junction compensation design to maintain field-testing accuracy. Real-time processing analytics have also been built into the EPM, using a batch validator to flag deviations.
The device is both flexible and scalable, allowing native I/O expansion and increased number of data points. In alignment with ALCOA+ principles, tamper-resistant data storage and audit trail functionality are utilised to ensure compliance with global regulations such as FDA 21 CFR part 11 and EudraLex vol. 4 annex 11. These are important to the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Data security is provided by compliance with IEC62443 standards for cybersecurity.
