The concept car includes sustainable materials from Bcomp
Bcomp has collaborated with Škoda Motorsport to develop the 2025 Enyaq RS Race, an all-electric concept car inspired by Škoda's 'Rally DNA', thanks to the latest Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 model
Based on the Škoda Enyaq Coupé RS production model, featuring new upgrades and innovative technology demonstrations. The integration of sustainable materials and technologies positions the Enyaq RS Race as a unique pilot project and proof point for future Škoda Auto production models.
For the 2025 Enyaq RS Race, Škoda Motorsport engineers have continued the previous concept by using Bcomp's sustainable lightweighting solutions. Based on prior experience from rally and show cars, the Škoda team understood the advantages of utilising these materials. The result was a total weight savings of 316kg compared to the production Škoda Enyaq Coupé RS, thanks to sustainable bicomposite parts made from Bcomp's ampliTex and PowerRibs.
Bcomp's technologies were utilised to develop lightweight composite parts for both the interior and body of the Enyaq RS Race. Applications included the bumpers, fenders, roof vent, rear wing, dashboard, door panels, driver and passenger footrests, and a replacement panel for the standard model's panoramic glass roof. Overall, 16 different vehicle components were replaced with sustainable material alternatives.
Bcomp's technologies supply comparable stiffness and weight to carbon fibre while reducing CO2 emissions by 85%. The main technology used in motorsport and automotive applications is ampliTex, a technical fabric of renewable flax fibres. These fibres help to dampen vibrations and contribute to weight reduction. Composite parts made using ampliTex are usually reinforced with powerRibs, further increasing the stiffness of thinwalled shell structures.
Škoda Motorsport has put ampliTex and powerRibs to the test in the challenging conditions of its rally programme. Now, with the 2025 Enyaq RS Race, Škoda is discovering the potential of the technologies in production automotive applications.
