Valmet will provide modernisation services for the recovery boiler and evaporation plant at Södra Mönsterås pulp mill in Sweden, supporting the mill’s annual maintenance program and improving operational reliability, safety, and long-term performance while reducing the risk of unplanned downtime

Marcus Grundevik, manager, Sales, Recovery Sales and Services, Scandinavia, Pulp, Energy and Circularity business area, Valmet, said, “This delivery demonstrates how Valmet’s technology expertise, shutdown services, and lifecycle support can help customers maintain high reliability, safety, and operational performance throughout the lifetime of their equipment, getting the most value from their assets. We are pleased to support our long-time customer Södra in running their operations reliably and improving their performance.”

The order is included in Valmet’s orders from the third quarter of 2026. The value of the order is not disclosed. The modernisation works at the mill are scheduled during the mill’s annual shutdown in November 2026.

The services Valmet will provide to improve the recovery boiler’s reliability, safety, and operational availability include inspections, replacement of pressure parts, maintenance works, upgrades for a new safety system, Smelt-X equipment and spare parts.

For the evaporation plant, Valmet will replace a tank head and flash tank, along with inspection and maintenance services. The project supports efficient operation and helps maintain the long-term performance of critical process equipment.
