The Atlascan Pro: a new handheld 3D scanner from Hexagon

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division has released the Atlascan Pro, a new handheld 3D scanner that can bring professional-grade laser scanning to entry-level users in any industry. Utilising various laser lines and a unique processing algorithm, the Atlascan Pro is able to achieve fast scanning and high-quality data capture

The new 3D scanner is versatile and portable, weighing just 1kg, enabling operators to take the scanner directly to the parts. With up to two hours of battery operation through hot swappable batteries and a Wi-Fi 7-ready wireless option, its scanning capabilities ensure a smooth scan when the part is moving, or in an unstable environment.

The Atlascan Pro can scan areas of up to 720x640mm in standard mode and can scan up to four million points per second. Operators can switch between standard and higher precision modes using an ergonomic thumb-switch for high density resolution over a 160x140mm area.

Reverse engineering workflows are streamlined, and users can scan smaller parts from any angle, capturing missing details and high-density data, with reduced guesswork or clean up. Developed to plug into any existing software workflows, Hexagon is supplying a starter bundle with its Geomagic Design X Go software, allowing users to recreate parts without the original design, accelerating scan to 3D model or scan-to-print for additive manufacturing.

Atlascan Pro is certified according to VDI/VDE 2634-3 and features Hexagon’s proprietary HH Scan software. The scanner is software agnostic, with direct scanning support for Geomagic Control X and Geomagic Design X available from launch and third-party vendor support coming soon.
