The phased array flaw detector has multiple ultrasonic technologies.
Evident has unveiled its new OmniScan phased array flaw detector, fitted with multiple ultrasonic technologies and powerful imaging capabilities. It is designed to help inspectors, of all expertise, quickly and accurately detect damaged mechanisms in a range of infrastructure.
Two decades of product development and enhancement has lead to the latest version of the OmniScan line. It has produced a rugged, field-proven series of portable ultrasonic flaw detector that works across a range of applications.
The solution has been engineered for speed, simplicity, and versatility. A full range of phased ultrasonic testing (PAUT) capabilities have been fitted in an easy-to-use interface enabling accurate detection of challenging flaws.
All OmniScan X4 models include advanced total focusing method (TFM), phase coherence imaging (PCI), and plane wave imaging (PWI) technologies, allowing quick flaw detection.
Émilie Péloquin, executive director of global advanced NDT product support at Evident, said: “We’ve equipped the OmniScan X4 with the power it needs to perform the complex processing required for TFM, PCI and PWI. Having these techniques in addition to phased array can be a huge help in making a definitive determination about the extent of certain damage. With access to a variety of techniques, you are far more likely to make the right call; more tools mean less doubt.”
Péloquin added: “What also differentiates the OmniScan X4 is that it’s designed to evolve. We are continually making it smarter, enhancing its onboard software and adding new features that target specific industry needs. Many of the improvements we make are complimentary to OmniScan X4 users through quarterly software updates.”
A terabyte of solid-state storage is installed on all models of the OmniScran X4 to allow for inspection technicians to work longer between transfer file stops. RAM and MXU software have been expanded and optimised, whilst a more powerful processor has been fitted, in comparison to previous iterations. This provides near instant results.
Karen Smith, president of Evident’s Industrial Division, said: “At Evident, we understand how important speed and efficiency are to productivity in the field. The OmniScan X4’s enhanced processing power and data storage deliver immediate, easy-to-characterize results, which translates into cost savings for asset owners. It also offers a compact, lightweight footprint, which enables inspectors to move, configure and operate their equipment with ease and agility.”
Presets come installed onto the OmniScan X4 to allow users to set up imaging in minutes, regardless of the complexity of scans. They also support a more reliable and accurate data acquisition, improving efficiency and consistency by reducing steps in post-processing and increasing report imaging generating.
TFM and PCI results are available on the OmniScan X4, with the TFM feature can compute up to three times faster than previous models.
